This was my first time working with film as an actual medium. To the credit of Pittsburgh Filmmaker’s Institute, they believe all filmmakers should learn how to handle the entire process of making a film… from purchasing the film stock, to shooting, to developing, to making a digital transfer, to editing, my hands were on this film (literally) the entire process. It was incredible, and I gained a tremendous respect for film as a medium, and for cinematographers and directors who have to trust that the image they set out to get is the one they will see weeks later when they get their developed film back from the lab.
